The Department of Information Technology and Communications directed by  Xavier Binefa has obtained funding for seven research projects.  One of them was obtained by PhySense.

Project: "Development and validation of a unified model of the heart that integrates heterogeneous measures and information , Multimodal and multiscale a coherent representation "

The participants of the project are PhySense the Hospital Clínic i Provincial de Barcelona and the Fundació per a la Recerca i la docencia San Juan and within it the ALBA synchrotron will be used. The project will develop and validate a unified model of the human heart for a particular patient , which in turn will provide physicians with cardiac imaging more efficient and targeted to a specific etiology .

The first authors of the accepted papers for the FIMH Conference are Sergio Sánchez, Bruno Paun, Marta Núñez and David Soto.

The FIMH is the International Conference on Functional Imaging and Modeling of the Heart. This biennial scientific event aims to integrate the research and development efforts in the fields of cardiovascular modeling and image analysis. The main goal is to encourage collaboration among scientists in signal and image processing, imaging, applied mathematics, biophysics, biomedical engineering, and experts in cardiology, radiology, biology and physiology.

The 2nd Barcelona Myocardial Strain Hands-on Course will be organised in Barcelona, on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th May, 2015.
This course provides a thorough overview and hands-on experience in myocardial strain analysis (speckle tracking as well as Tissue Doppler-based). The concepts of the strain analysis, together with tips-and-tricks for the processing, will be presented using illustrative cases and enriched with pathophysiologic knowledge of cardiac mechanics and ventricular remodelling to provide advanced interpretation for clinical practice or research projects. Participants get plenty of time for hands-on analysis of cases provided as well their own cases to analyse them under super-vision of the experts.
Organized by Bart Bijnens, Barcelona; Frank Weidemann, Wuerzburg; Maja Cikes, Zagreb.
